Homeward Bound

We are finally home!  So happy to have our little lady home with us and start adjusting to normal life with her.  Thank you all so much for your prayers and support through with difficult time.  We wanted to update you all on her last few days in the hospital.  The doctor did a follow up blood test to see if Lydia's white blood cell count was starting to trend down.  If it had not started to go down he informed us that the next step would be to continue with antibiotics for another 7 days.  At this point we could not bear the thought that our baby would need to stay in the NICU another week!  We prayed and thankfully the next day her white count was normal.  Doctor was very pleased with her progress and felt that it would be no problem her going home on Sunday March 3rd. It was so nice to have an end in sight and she continued to improve each day.

We are now home and loving spending time with her.  She is such a sweet baby and so cute!  We have a few follow up appointments with our pediatrician to make   sure she is progressing well and she is on an iron supplement due to the blood loss from the cord evulsion at birth.  But no residual effects from all the problems she had at birth and both the neonatologist and pediatrician reassured me that she will grow to be a happy healthy normal baby and there should not be any lasting problems from this experience.
